Our main restaurant overlooks the Indian Ocean toward the distant mountains of Tanzania. Diners sit at long wooden tables, feet dangling on the sandy floor under a gigantic palm tiled roof.
The dive-base restaurant with a romantic veranda & an intimate, cool upstairs, is set on a cliff overlooking the Wasini Channel.
Both restaurants are traditionally built in different styles. The atmosphere at the restaurants is caring and friendly, and the bars offer a full range of drinks and thirst quenching reasonably priced cocktails. Nestling in nooks and crannies within the surrounding gardens & on the beach down at the water's edge there are traditional Swahili beds, driftwood chairs and tables; for a quiet time to sit and contemplate or snooze the hours away. There is a small shop selling locally produced crafts & weavers working on their loom.
For our fresh menus we harvest whatever is available daily from the sea. Local fishermen, all of whom use sustainable traditional fishing methods, deliver their fish and crab daily to the restaurant.
Our famous crab, whole, and steamed in ginger is served in giant bowls or individually on wooden platters. Totally fresh we keep our crab in holding tanks until ordered. All produce served is bought, wherever possible, from the local community.
Our menus are traditional Swahili - the long history of trading dhows that visited the Kenya Coast and plying the whole of the Indian Ocean has resulted in tasty, spicy dishes. Here is a typical menu:
